I love making these bracelet sets.
There is something serendipitous about hammering, twisting, shaping and oxidizing wire that is much like my life.
While you start with a collection of beautiful beads and shiny copper wire, it looks pretty… but it doesn’t have much use until something is made of it.
So I start cutting, hammering and pruning until it ends up as this labor of love.
Copper is my favorite metal to work with. It is rustic, affordable, and beautiful. As you may have noticed from our work here, we love the combination of copper and turquoise.
As a matter of fact, we considered calling our fundraiser Copper Turquoise Starfish.
Zoe and I get asked all the time where we get our ideas, and where we learn our techniques. We are not information piggies, so we will tell you.
Lisa Niven Kelly is a jewelry pioneer and genius, who was working her biz on the internet long before any of the rest of us even considered the thought.
She has created this amazeballs mecca of tutorials, supplies, and information about jewelry crafting that boggles the jewelers mind.
If you make jewelry, or are interested in starting, Lisa Niven Kelly and beaducation.com is not to be missed.
You can learn simple techniques like wire-wrapping, or more complex techniques like stamping metal. There are free videos, as well as paid videos. You can buy your supplies from her website like stamping sets or high-quality pliers. Her free online video tutorials are my favorite thing EV-AH. Lisa is a classic example of a beautiful human being, giving back to the world, while thriving her business.
Create, inspire, share! Love her!
And no, she is not paying me to say any of this. She doesn’t even know who I am. I just believe in giving credit where credit is due, and sharing my discoveries with my peeps.
Peace, love, wire and beads….
